I am standing with three other girls before a hotel. I don't know their names or who they are, but I know that we came here together as a team. The radiation from a bomb had birthed a new race if spiders. I didn't know what happened when someone was bitten, only a nagging feeling that it was worse than death. We continue into the building. I'm not sure why we're here but I know it's important. I wonder how I got here. I am too scared to ask the other girls so I follow them instead. They don't seem to find my silence strange, but maybe that's because they are preoccupied. There is tension in the air. I suddenly realize that there used to be five of us, and right now there are only four. I can't even remember her name. (Did I ever know it?) We are in the hotel because we hope that there are no spiders there. We need sanctuary and our dead friend had always talked about this address. This hotel. Somehow I know that This is not a sanctuary, we are waking into the very nest, but as I open my mouth to warn them, I find that no sound comes out. I can't even stop walking. Inside, I am screaming and fighting tooth and nail to gain control over my own body, but my fight is fruitless. On the outside, my face remains impassive. We have reached the room now, and I am forced inside along with them. One of the girls offers to go in first, just to make sure. She has straight blonde hair and blue eyes. The rest of us want to protest, but she is insistent. Reluctantly, we let her push the door open and walk in. Her scream echoes in my head and I feel sick. I couldn't stop her. I couldn't stop this. "Lexi!" One of the girls screams, sprinting for the door and grabbing the handle. The other girl holds her back. "She's gone." She whispers, her voice broken. She hold back the struggling girl, brown eyes wet with tears. I simply stand there, mouth open, before crumpling to the ground. The other two girls look at me with sympathy, but all I can think is that I should have warned her. Suddenly, the door opens - from the inside. The blonde girl - Lexi - steps back out, but the sight of her is terrifying. I close my eyes, but the image is burned into my mind. Lexi, body covered in purple and black splotches, flesh falling out in chunks around her with blood dripping from the wounds. Her eyes are crazed, and she stumbles around as if in a trance. Her hair is matted. I can see the bone I. Her left forearm. She stumbles towards us, and the other two girls scream and run into the nearest room that wasn't the one Lexi came out of. We shut the door, but we can't lock it. The girl with grey eyes and light brown hair is sobbing, and straining towards the door. "Lexi!" She screams once again. I know she is in denial, but despite mine and the other girls attempts to stop her, she throws us off and runs to open the door. "Martha, no!" The brown-eyed girl cried desperately, but it's too late. Lexi has enter the room. She smiles at us viciously, revealing sharp, needle-like teeth. Martha stumbles back from her, but it's too late. Lexi sinks her teeth into Martha's neck, and Martha falls to the ground. Already her skin is gathering purple and black splotches like Lexi's and her flesh begins to look rotten. It is only the other girl and I. I wish I knew her name. She turns to me and grasps my shoulders, "I'll hold her off, run!" I comply. I look for a place to hide. I should have gone to the bathroom, but for all I knew there were spiders in there too, so I head for the balcony. I realize to late that the glass door are shattered, and only a thin screen keeps me from the spider zombies. The balcony is bare, nothing to fight the now three monsters off with. The lock on the screen doesn't work. So I am stuck holding the two sides together as the monsters come closer. This is the fate worse than death that I had thought of earlier. They shred the screen with their nails. They are on the balcony now, and I run. They are faster than humanly possible, and they stop me before I can Lock the bathroom door. I still remember the feeling of hopelessness as they close in on me. I will die and there's nothing I can do. Panic and adrenaline course through me but are of know use. Lexi smile with those sharp teeth and grabs me by the arms, her fingernails digging into my skin. I squeeze my eyes shut, as if that will stop what is to come, but I can feel her teeth sinking into my neck, burning me as the venom spreads. And I am falling. Falling so far.
