In real life, I once raised polyphemus (silk) moths, which are currently threatened due to an invasive parasite so they now require help from volunteers in raising them. I raised them from caterpillars to moths, and when they emerged I set them free to go find mates. I had become a bit attached to them during their time with me; they were gentle creatures with a very "zen" sort of aura about them. When they left, I was a little sad because I knew I would not see them again (once they emerge as moths they only live long enough to mate and lay eggs, a few days at most). One night about a week after I let them go I had a dream. I was in a field with waving tall grass and trees. All around was a golden light with flecks of gold floating slowly through the air. Moths of that same species were flying peacefully all over. One of them came and landed on my hand. I knew in the dream it was one of the ones I had raised and it had come to say goodbye to me. I told it I missed it and asked it to stay for a minute so I could take a picture of it and me together with my phone (lol). As I was trying to find my phone it flew away. I said "Hey wait!" and then I woke up.
