After watching a Dutch comedy film before falling asleep I was not surprised that the topic of my dream revolved around traveling through a foreign land. I had limited resources and wanted to find an affordable room at an inn for the night. I had arrived at a town that I can no longer recall the name of, although I repeated it several times in my dream state. I inquired about a room at a bed and breakfast where everyone was eating in a series of dining rooms and bars. The food all appeared to be plant matter and two fellow travelers warned me that "you should not stay here, the food is garbage". I asked them where I should stay instead and they beckoned me to come with them across a ferry to an island where they assured me sleep would be the last thing on my mind. I boarded the ferry with them and it was dusk, very foggy, but the silver-black tinted water had a quicksilver beauty about it. When I arrived on the island it was extremely hedonistic. There was no end to the lecherous activities occurring around me. It wasn't a town as much as a marketplace where sexual objects and favors were for sale. I recognized the girl at the first booth I stopped at as a high school classmate that I hadn't been very good friends with and hadn't seen in many years. I asked her "what is there to do here?" She just laughed and smiled and responded "sex!" Everything was about sex. At this point I began to realize that I was dreaming and was actually hoping to manifest some sexual experiences of my own without waking up. I usually wake up just when stuff is getting good. In this case, I began caressing and embracing another girl from high school that I was not involved with as more than a mere acquaintance but the urge to copulate was overwhelming. We started to kiss and I tried to feel her body in my hands. MY HANDS---I remembered having been told that looking at your hands while in a dream state allows you to become more lucid. I peered down at my hands and saw them clearly. They were undoubtedly my hands. The skin tone and color, size, and shape all matched my physical body. At this point I tried to exit the location of my dream and found that by putting my hands in front of me and diving forward I had flown away from the marketplace over a sea of blue, out onto what I can only best describe as a blank canvas. This only lasted moments until I was back in my body. I was conscious of being in my body but could not move and did not seem to be awake. I tried to remove my consciousness from my body and peer down at myself as a way to trigger a more palpable out of body experience. I felt as though I almost achieved the separation but came out of my sleep paralysis and woke up. Laying my head back down I began to sense vibrations in my ears. I tried to spread them, but my next memory is being awakened by an alarm. Over the last few months my dreams have become more and more vivid. I remember dreaming every day. I have always been a vivid dreamer, but now am exploring my consciousness and feel awake even when I sleep.
